Sad Song 03:31
I guess fate has other plans Because fate’s so good at keeping you out of my hands Oh how I love, how I love your face I close my eyes and see it every place Now I know some girl will soon come along Guess loving her is right and loving me is wrong So I’ll just accept my fate and carry on And you’ll live in my heart like a sad song You’ll live in my heart like a sad song I won’t be dancing I’ll just be moving along I won’t shower you with attention or praise I’ll just go on loving you in quiet ways Pretending nothing’s wrong You’ll live in my heart like a sad song Like the hands of a clock, round and round it won’t stop That’s the way – that’s the way it’s going to be I’ll keep loving you and you won’t love me You’ll live in my heart like a sad song On and on, the music will play on And you’ll live in my heart like a sad song

You look so broken, you must live on the loneliest street I know it can’t feel good – so take a lesson from me You talk such a strong game, but I can read between the lines So come find a girl who knows the sad, sad places you’ve been I know, I know I know What it’s like stuck in that hole Damn boy, don’t lose yourself in the hype Did a girl ever cry for you? Drag the rain down from the sky? Well I ain’t seen clear weather since the first day you passed me by From the look in your eyes now, you think we’re not meant to be But I know that your sorrow will do the convincing for me I know, I know I know What it’s like stuck in that hole Damn boy, don’t lose yourself in the hype Go ahead and just walk on – don’t you pay no attention to me

Life it was like a book Each memory a photo we took I thought that we’d look back on the pages Hand in hand, all through the ages But the story now ended abruptly I cannot believe it’s so easy to leave me Easy to leave me – I might be on Mars Easy to leave me free behind bars Easy to leave me – I could lose my mind Easy to leave me - to leave me behind From nothing, we made it A love so ill-fated Together so long, together so strong I didn’t see the door that was there all along You must have kept the key in your pocket You were so quick, when you finally unlocked it Easy to leave me – you really showed your range Easy to leave me – isn’t love strange Easy to leave me – well thanks for your time It was so easy to leave me behind
4.
Aging Now 02:39
You’re aging now The years tear at your crown The offers are all but gone I watch you fall as I keep holding on You’re aging now Is it finally my time? Are you ready now To finally be mine? Or will you choose Some new-sprung flower To have it all In the final hour I swear I’d move on now If only I still could But I am waiting here Though they tell me you’re no good You’re aging now One day you’ll see All that you wanted Was raging in me You’re aging now Is it finally my time? Are you ready now To finally be mine?

about

This EP, released as a limited 10" on German label Kleine Untergrund Schalplatten (KUS 024) features four new tracks with lyrics by songwriter Renee Tamraz – whose unpublished collection of love songs first caught Lake Ruth's attention in early 2019, while they were working on their third album. An interesting detour ensued as Lake Ruth began setting Tamraz’s words to music and exploring their sorrowful mysteries. For a group whose lyrics lean more existential than romantic, the unexplored territory of heartbreak’s destructive power couldn’t help but beckon.
