At last, the land surveyed
Ripe fields for the wasting
You're not the quiet sort
I've known your kind before
And I will capture you
Follow me to the hill
False lights, they will lead you
There, there is the door
Welcome in my love
I've laid a place for you
And here, here is the wine
Drink deep my love
And eat a thing or two
Come on, enter the dance
Abandon all hope of return
Then lay your head down for a spell
We'll wake you in time we will
In time we will...
At last, the land preserved
Tall trees for the sparing
They'll send another one
Return to find him gone
For nature holds the reins now
Follow me to the hill
False lights, they will lead you

The Only One Who Knows
03:25
|

Well I can't connect with anyone
They always cringe at me and turn
So I shout out at the top of my lungs
Still they don't listen to your words
Now...now...
I'm the only one who knows your love
I'm the only one who knows your love
Well I'm not just any normal girl
I won't just wait here for a sign
Cause the sound of all this modern noise
It makes me want to switch it off
Well I'm not sure just how much time I have
So I could use a little help
If I could see a little of your face
I could grow a bit stronger

It's nearly impossible
This waiting for the end
Sitting around, I stare at the ceiling
And try to remember my friends
Oh...is it rational?
Shall I stick to what we know
The patient life it is
Biding my time, what's new on the telly?
Look, it's a new game show quiz
Oh...let's do what is sensible
I'm not a soldier but
They make me soldier on
Hanging around, I sit here in mud
And I'm not allowed to make my own plans
So...tell me what would you do?
So I'm making my request
Just bring me some balloons
I'll float to the skies
Dream of my youth
While I so quietly quit the room
Oh...tell me what will you do?

Outside in the rain, the eerie morning
You're wandering the empty lane for information
Another knock, another door
Another mark upon your wall
It's not the will of God, nor miasma
There's something in the city well that taints the water
Hour by hour the fallen pile
And how you long to spare them all
You plead to the crowd, a call for action
They finally decide they will remove the handle
A better life for everyone
Soho in the autumn sun

Cabin Fever

|

And I know, and I know
It's not a shadow
It's something in the trees
Lying in wait for me
And I know, and I know
I'll be here tomorrow
Pounding on the door
Locked in my little hell
A million times I've longed to reach the road
I can't stand it anymore
Forever a ceaseless noise
Reverberating round the bitter air
Growing louder by the hour
And real as the writing on the wall
And the snow, and the snow
The snow is falling
Piling on the eaves
Erasing all trace of me
And I know, and I know
I'll be here tomorrow
Falling to the floor
Breaking my radio

A Victimless Crime
02:56
|
|||
You've fallen down several times
A trap set in the hollow
Staring right up through the hole
A dead end that you followed
Yet you can't help notice that you're smiling
Autumn in the season of your training
Oh...I know
You're steering down the wrong course
The water here's too shallow
Still you must track down the source
The secret fields lie fallow
And though the southern geese
Always return to home
You're thinking now you've lost the trail
You know the crime is victimless
A waste of time in searching
Well there's no shame in telling us
You never found out anything

The Timekeeper's Lament
04:21
|
|||
Why do clouds, they follow you
Everywhere you go
Then drive away everyone you know
Being so, you bite your tongue
And you force a smile
People always reach your mind turned wrong
You tried so hard
To sort it out
Don't they know?
Now you're keeping secrets from yourself
And it shows
Why does sadness mark your path
Everywhere you go
Always making time go by so slow
And you thought to turn to me
And ask me what I want
How could that at this late stage have worked?

One night as I lay on my bed,
I dreamed about a pretty maid
I was so distressed
I could take no rest
Love did torment me so
So away to my true love I did go
But when I'd come to my love's window
I boldly called her by her name
Saying it's for your sake
I've come here this late
Through the bitter frost and snow
So open the window my love do
My mum and dad they are both awake
And they are sure for to hear us speak
There'll be no excuse
Then much sore abuse
Many a bitter word and row
So begone from my window my love do
Your mum and dad they are both asleep
And they are sure not to hear us speak
For they're lying sound
On their bed of down
And they draw they breath so low
So open the window my love do
My love arose and opened the door
Just like an angel she stood before
Her eyes shone bright
Like the stars at night
No diamond ring shone so
So in with my true love I did go

Yet Still Tomorrow Comes
07:25
|
|||
Oh Julie of my heart
Your lifeless body laid out
Green leaves on the late March snow
Don't cover it
Let me linger for a moment
To whisper low
My last goodbye
On pain of losing face
They release the man from nowhere
This rage is all I know
Don't stop me
Don't silence my cold blade
Let me have the life
Of him who stole from me
I cry into the river and the storm
In time they'll tread a thousand year old stone
Under where are buried bones entwined
For yet still tomorrow comes
